Scalp Micropigmentation

Pre-Treatment

We recommend you shave your head before the first session takes place for the following reasons:

  1. The shock at seeing “hair” after the first session will be less.

  2. To reveal any marks or scarring, which you may decide to leave or cover with the treatment.

  3. If you suffer from dry skin, this will give you the opportunity to moisturize properly before you undergo treatment.

  4. If you are tanned, this will give your scalp time to balance out in skin tone.

The most important thing to consider is moisturizing, as you will need to do this at least 3-4 times a day in the final days leading up to your treatment/appointment. This will ensure your scalp is in the best possible condition and free from any dry areas which could impede the process

After Each Treatment Session

After your treatment, your scalp needs time to heal. We recommend that you refrain from interfering with your scalp for at least 3 days.

  1. Do not wash your scalp or head in any way for at least 3 days following your appointment.

  2. Do not go to gyms, saunas, swimming pools, beaches or any other place where you may sweat.

  3. Avoid anything abrasive on your head, no exfoliation and no hats.

On the 4th day you can use water to wash your scalp and start moisturizing. A gentle shampoo can be used on the scalp after 7 days.

This will allow the healing process to begin, each dot on your scalp may form a tiny scab over each needle mark. This also contains SMP pigment so the dots will appear larger and darker than they should at the beginning of the healing process. Do not worry, this is normal, they will get smaller and lighter as it heals.

Long Term SMP Aftercare

Make sure you have proper sun protection every time you are in the sun, at least for the scalp. This will help preserve the pigmentation. Use a minimum of SPF 15. Do not use tanning beds as they will accelerate your rate of fading.

Please do not use cosmetics or other products that have a high alcohol content. Products such as Minoxidil contain a higher alcohol content and should be avoided. Most cosmetic creams, lotions and moisturizers have a low alcohol content and these are generally fine to use.

Use an exfoliating cleanser a few times a week and make sure your scalp is properly moisturized. Moisturizing at least once daily will keep your scalp in good condition, it will benefit the overall appearance and the pigment.
